The 4070 variant of this laptop already existed for quite some time and I have even made a video on it: Quick Delivery→183k Legion Pro 5 Gen 8-7945HX-4070-100%-32GB-1TB Link 1: https://lenovo-in.zlvv.net/21neKG Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIJqutxz-18 | AMD King
Now, however, the 4060 variant is here and also it costs close to 150k now and seems much much more appealing, hence this blog.
Should have made this before the M4 Ultra was launched but basically the 7945HX is the best laptop CPU just after M4 Ultra. All the other slots are taken up by desktop CPUs. That’s what this CPU is about. That’s what all this is about. Also, since it’s ryzen and it’s efficient, instead of dropping perforamnce afterr a few seconds, it keeps the full perforamnce all the time with just 115W.
I know this is an older CPU and was launched when Intel 13th gen laptop CPU was launched but the disaster the 14th gen turned out to be, it’s still at the top.
And that’s the main thing about this laptop really. Really great CPU performance with relatively less power and heat than the Intel counter-part for now and also a great display.
Also, the other important thing is sustained performance. This unlike many Intel HX CPUs can sustain it’s performance under heavy load. I am unable to find the exact data for it but when I do, I will link it here. I did find it for the Legion 7 and not Legion Pro 5 but if it doesn’t work for you, all it will require is a good thermal paste like PTM.
1) The Intel variant with similar performance but more heat:
