Don't buy from HGWorld/Happy Gaming World at all

This is still in progress and the main reason to get anything from HGWorld was that they have 6 months seller warranty where they will repair stuff under that time for free(upfront extra cost however). Sounds great considering these chinese retro console do tend to break very easily or so I assume.

THIS IS NOT A REVIEW OF R46S which can be found here. It is a review only of the buying/service experience from HGWorld.

Important Points

  1. My suggestion is to buy these retro consoles from Alibaba instead and check the product properly for a few days. If there are issues, you will get complete refund in most cases instead.
  2. They deliver broken devices as new and as replacement.
  3. They ghost the customer completely when a laptop is bought where you won't get replies for days. You will have to be on the call from day to night and maybe in a few days the might pick up your call and bother answering.
  4. Their technical support staff when they do talk, talks such dumb shit that it's pathetic. Instead of fixing a new device, they give excuses for the failure of the devices.

Summary

HGWorld:

Pros:

  1. Cheaper product than other competitors who sell in India BUT not cheaper than Alibaba, so if you're fine with no warranty you can of course get the product from there.
  2. Provides six months warranty and also repairs for stuff out of warranty though I don't know how much will that cost. Also, recently I have been thinking about this especially after seeing how simple the device is once opened. I think the warranty might not be needed at all. You should also know that Alibaba also provides spare parts but I don't know if it will be viable with the high shipping costs.

Cons:

  1. Absolutely little communication from their end. I am sure they are working very hard. How to Improve: Just a little mail or whatsapp at least for the crucial event is enough. You don't need to tell everything but just a reminder that you are in the process of doing what you're doing is enough and will save you from multiple people calling you at the same time which I am sure is the reason for below.
  2. Calling them seems to be the only way to get through to them however it takes a lot of tries before you can even speak to them. How to Improve: Prioritise email and whatsapp over call. You can check every document and proof of videos and can ask there at a time. And just being active on Whatsapp is more than enough. Also, setup your Whatsapp account to show active hours. I don't know if you are open on Saturdays or not because it's never communicated.
  3. Pickup shipping method is very slow. The courier person told me about this that the way you have arranged this pickup, "Company Pickup" as he called is something no courier company wants to do willingly because it's not profitable. How to Improve: Talk to the courier agents. Cosmic Byte also did home pickups but it was never so slow. Give the customer the option to ship product himself and you can reimburse them for it if under warranty. A courier shouldn't take 10+ days when it usually only takes 3-4 days. And also, I was the one doing the tracking.
  4. No updates about pickup also. I was the one doing all the tracking and letting you guys know about where the product was. A simple message from you would have sufficed. Anyways. This was already covered in 1.
  5. Not checking the product before shipping. You guys are in a unique situation that you can actually fix the product if you find something faulty. I would rather have a checked fixed product rather than a broken sealed product. How to Improve: Check products before shipping. Mention this on your website like you have mentioned the honesty thing that the box will be open because we have checked the product beforehand. Note: The SD cards in these consoles can degrade very very quickly so first make a backup for one line of product and use that SD card.

Further Thoughts on Improvement (Not needed for someone who doesn't care):

  1. Please add a small note that the SD card with these console degrade very very quickly. So users should first backup the SD card completely and use that instead of booting with the provided SD card.
  2. You can also sell sealed SD card and show these in a bundle on the website for this very reason. You can also backup the provided SD card to a proper branded SD card and charge a bit more money. That's one more money making idea right there for you and it also helps the customers.

Received the packet on Friday, realized L2 and R2 are very hard and not being pressed. Tried opening and fixing and only was able to fix one side, the other side switch came off from the board. I should mention that it was already bent so no matter what this machine had to go back to source.

The main source of the problem of no response. They don't reply to your whatsapp message normally. I had to keep calling them and tell them that I have already sent you everything on whatsapp and had to send a message live on call for them to find it.
Email support is non-existent and there is no update from their end. You have to keep calling them multiple times a day to get even a little bit of response. That really felt like a complete waste of time.

Anyways, it's on it's way to them. Will update here what happens later. Do they even fix it and how many months will they take for the same!

Timeline

28th February→ When I received the package and realized the issue, I immediately contacted them via email and given support whatsapp number. This was Friday.
On Saturday and Sunday there was no response but it was expected.

3rd March→ First acknowldgment that the support even exists after they picked up the call and said they will update me in a few hours, that call never came this day nor the next day. I had to keep calling them again and again and then they would pick up and also might just disconnect the call while talking. I found this very very irritating. They have Seven Day Support as default warranty. I doubt anyone is going to get any resolution from them in the seven days. It's worth getting the six month seller warranty.

4th March→ After multiple calls they said they haven't seen a whatsapp message but after sending a one on the call they found it. They said the device will have to be repaired and sent back. A return pick-up will be created. I packed an created a box immediately and they send a shipping label for courier pickup.

5th-7th March→ DTDC(The courier) kept delaying the pickup without any reason. When the delivery person came he explained that such return pickups for companies are not profitable and if you say on call that it's a pickup arranged by another company instead of individual pickup, hardly anyone will even bother picking it up. This is a serious concern. I want to ask HGWorld about it but let them sort one mess at a time.

On the tracking it says picked up on 4th when it was picked up on the 7th and even by 14th it still hasn't reached them. In all this time it kept saying: "Seller Refused Pickup" so I was concerned and sent them a few messages again, no reply until I said, "Is this really your customer service? How am I going to recommend anyone to buy from you guys if this is how you are going to serve?" to which there was s reply that I will be updated but alas, nothing yet.

17th March → It's been too long now and the silence from the support is too much for me. I have asked them on mail and whatsapp to give full refund. Would rather pay a bit more and get a decent one from Alibaba than bothering with such websites anymore.


Someone replied on the mail to send UPI details for full refund from their support. 

19th March → After finally calling them for 5-10 times I got a message that they will call me back and they did and said on the call that a replacement product has been sent yesterday itself and will share the tracking soon. I said, "You could have just kept me updated. Complete silence from your end makes you look bad."

23rd March→ Support said they will share the tracking details of the replacement product but even after mailing or sending many whatsapp to them they have still not replied. I called them again a day before and he did confirm that the product has been sent but only on the call. And finally he shared a phone number of a new person which looks like a new hire. Let's see if that one responds or not.

24th March→ I am seriously starting to doubt if they actually send the replacement or not. It's about to hit a month since I ordered the product from them. It's been so long that the product I ordered from China is about to reach. Laugh out Loud.

This new person has the same no-response attitude. She said that she will update but there has been no update and it's midnight now. No wonder people order stuff from China instead of dealing with Indian websites. I have spent enough time and energy on this. I am going to assume that my Rs.5300 went into the drain and when and if I do get time will follow up with consumer court. Most likely, I will not.

25th March→ Finally, after talking to Diksha one more time finally they shared the tracking ID and it looks like it was shipped on the 18th but this time they opted for the same slow shipping option of DTDC which they did for the pickup. Usually it takes 4-5 days, even 3 days from here Mumbai/Gujrat. I know that because of Sunrom. This one takes 10 days. Here's the actual status.

I should ask them what service they are using which is so slow because usually DTDC isn't this slow. I asked, let's see.

Usually it only takes 3-4 days for any items arriving from Mumbai or Gujrat to my location. This one it has been 8 days and looks like it will take around 10 days?
[14:33, 25/3/2025] Nishant: In 10 days an item I ordered from China is about to be delivered.
[14:34, 25/3/2025] Nishant: Also when the return pickup was made the agent said that no one wants to do these company reverse pickups because it's not profitable for them and that's why no one was coming to pickup the article for three days.
[14:35, 25/3/2025] Nishant: I have used DTDC personally too and also with other brand who do pickups, it's never more than 3-4 days. Only with HGWorld I have seen this going upto 10 or even 15 days. Why?

As expected no satisfactory response.

The new Replacement device issues - Wifi and Battery

The replacement R46S has had so many issues from the first day that it's pathetic. Right now, the device was charged to 72%, I restarted it and now it's at 59%. You could say it's calibration issue but even after being on charge for 8 hours it never went above 72%. Also, it got stuck at 2% for many hours too. On top of all that the device heats a lot when putting it on charge, a clear sign of a bad battery. I played a game for 5mins and the battery went down from 58 to 51. It won't last 1.5hrs like this if it even does.

In the last 30 mins it went down from 60 to 29% just playing some PSP games without using WiFi. The battery is of course faulty.

On top of that the WiFi just doesn't work properly. It has terrible range but also it just can't connect to many wifi at all. It shows those wifi but never connects to them.

Now, since I have had a new device from earlier I know that this device isn't like this. It didn't heat while charging and was always being charged to 100% and battery ran for hours and it also connected to wifi in the same locations properly.

This all means that the replacement device is faulty.

So, I expected these people to be able to understand this but when I first talked about the wifi issue he says people don't buy such devices for wifi. WTF! If I wanted that I would have got a cheaper half price device. The whole reason to get this was WiFi. But then he stopped replying.

Now later I was trying to contact them for these issues, no reply over email, no reply on both given whatsapp numbers. No picking up the call on a office time, mind you. The same pathetic ghosting as before.

And I had ordered a cheaper device which they have already shipped. Have mailed and asked them to not deliver that since I am done with them. That's all I have to say on them. I have had enough.
