Final Update
It started making crackling sounds in one side . This is after the foam came out also from one end. Just know that this is a cheap device before you make your final decision on this purchase.
Update after using it for a few months and after the replacement
Replaced once under warranty:
In the video above I said how the company was playing games and not replacing the product right away. After a few back and forth, they did agree to do the same and they replaced it with probably a new one. I say that because the sound is louder on this unit.
Honestly, I should have replaced it right away. So the new replaced ones are much more loud, als the reason the surrounding one is cut out above.
Also I guess I was too negative and didn't talk about the good things about this. After I had tinnitus, I am harsh on anything that can cause medical damage. I am sorry but that's just me. But let's say you still want to know if it's actually useful for anything or should you not buy it at all. So I am making a new section for the same.
Good things about it:
The inner ear pain issue no longer exists. It seems like I got used to it which was my main concern in the previous video. And for how critical I was in the previous video, I wanted to make this update one focussing mainly on the positives instead.
I can hear music where I usually earlier didn't:
While driving
While going out for a walk or whenever I am going out on a drive, I put these on and then my helmet on top of it. These are the best way to enjoy music while driving because my ears are open and I can hear a lot of things.
During Walks on places with traffic
Unlike the urban areas most rural areas of India still lack proper parks so your only choice becomes to go out for walks on less busy streets where another vehicle is still a probability and you need to be aware of your surrounding. These are good there too.
Waiting in queues:
Whenever I go to any such place that doesn't require a lot of using head but mere presence like hospitals or in government offices just waiting in line, these are excellent since I can hear everything else outside too. If these area is quiet enough, I can also listen to audiobooks.
I started singing better:
When you have something in your ear like an earphone or headphone you don't listen to how bad/good you sound and you can't adjust for it. You all know this from experience, someone who sings very badly but since he is wearing headphones he doesn't know how bad it is. These are best for such people which includes me. I sing badly but when I do hear myself, I get that important feedback to adjust and that helps me improve. My improve I mean copy exactly what is being sung, not become an actual qualified singer.
But I guess if you keep the volume low on these, you will be able to record your voice without the music getting in and you can also hear yourself. So these are pretty good for upcoming singers, although, due to the pains above, you won't be using it for long.
I started singing:
Recently I keep catching myself just singing along to the tunes. The song isn't that good but I am making a guess on the psychology involved here. I guess since we hear our own voice, the music and the surrounding, it feels natural to chime in. Unlike while using headphones or earphones the surroundings are less pronounced and your own voice sounds weird so I didn't used to sing that much.
When I have a normal headphone/earphone on, my own sound sounds louder and unnatural with the music being played hence it ruins the experience but with these I am singing and many people have caught me singing randomly from time to time, it's a good feeling. Of course, with limitation.
CAUTION AGAINST BONE CONDUCTION and avoiding this particular one.
I already made a cautionary video about the same. It contains the same thing which are below.
"Bone conduction earphones are not ear health friendly. Weird Ear, mouth jaw pain after just using for an hour"
Expectation vs Reality
These would be silent vs They make enough sound that other people in the vicinity can hear it.
Hear your surrounding. vs yeah, all I hear are surrounding because the volume on it is too low.
Pressure-free? vs Not physical pressure on the ears but still a pressure on the inner ear. Most irritating things to wear for a long time.
Premium sound quality? vs Shouldn't even be advertised. Bone conduction don't sound good.
I will be able to listen to audiobooks while cycling. vs Sound too low and traffic sounds too high, sometimes even the bike's own sound is too much.
For Ear Health? vs Nopes, too irritating even after listening for one hour.
Will be better than headphones for longer usage vs Over ear headphones made primarily for comfort better like the
Constant Lower Volumes: Android likes to lower earphone volumes on it's own. These headphones don't sound well under 80% volume which Android enforces and outside you have to keep changing volumes.
Build: Cheap as expected at this price point.
Bluetooth LATENCY IS HORRIBLE. -500ms
Pros:
The sound of these headphones in an indoor stadium is low enough that you can use them there without disturbing others.
People approach you about these headphones. Some ask if you have implants others are dying to ask (little kids mostly) but they never do. Girls haven't approached yet but we are predicting by 2030 a girl will.
Cons (apart from the ones above):
Sound Leak.
The sound is horrible, but that was expected while buying this so not really sure if it's a con.
Can't use while sleeping because the way it's designed it keeps coming off from the face.
Bluetooth range is terrible. Like more than 2-3 meters and it's gone.
Due to the above and the fact that it can connect to two devices, if there are two devices near the vicinity of each other it keeps saying connected and disconnected so much that I have to find the other device and turn it off. I have used this feature on the OneOdio Pro M and since it's range wasn't terrible, it could have been used in dual pairing mode easily.
Sometimes when the phone is in the pocket, it will still bug out multiple times. Have to reconnect. Stopped later probably with the replacement unit.
The padding comes out within a few months. Stick it with something strong.
