Most Important Thing: What to do to be safe:
1) Never give OTP unless you have checked the box properly from all sides. If he insists, give him a wrong OTP.
2) Always take delivery in daylight atleast for high value items. Tell them you’re not at home for reciveing the packet if they insist.
3) Reject delivery in case of any sort of suspisions (estimate weight by yourself) either in the packet.
4) Record continous video from delivery of packet to opening up the whole box with address details, barcodes and everything. It is however important for legal actions.
5) Don’t get carried away by the delivery person. Don’t think about him/her. Take your own time, if they still are rude, just deny delivery.
6) In case of Flipkart’s Open Box Delivery: Bluntly reject if the delivery person denies opening box. (Do all checks as provided by Flipkart like duplicate product and don’t give OTP unless you have done so). You insist about such things no matter what the delivery guy says.
7) For Credit Card Purchase: If the box is empty, immediately do a credit card chargeback through the bank and tell them you have been frauded for this purchase.
Important things that such sites like amazon/flipkart to do:
1) Talk to customer care option missing on these sites.
2) Giving your OTP confirms that you are acknwleding that the product is recieved by you intact.
3) Don’t create separate Amazon Business Account instead use your own personal account and add GST Number. Amazon Business give you bill without GST instead of adding GST and claiming it like everyone else.
The whole story
Seller was Aparrio Retial Pvt. Ltd.
Got the laptop in sale in Delhi in next day delivery.
Delivery Guy Detials:
Morning 8AM: Out of delivery message and it was heavy downpour that time.
Evening 8:30PM: Actual person arrived for delivery.
The delivery guy was halfway through the stairs and asked for OTP and didn’t give OTP then. He kept asking for it multiple times and was very rushed. Aashish wasn’t anticipating anything at all.
Aashish was in the proces of checking the box and OTP was provided for the same.
As soon as the OTP was provided, he started going out and the question was asked about the box looking wet which he said it was due to rain and then he was out.
6th Aug: Outer Box Damage was found and amazon contacted immeidately:
Delivery Pics
Tried contacting Amazon through many different ways but it was incredibly difficult to do so. When Selected the issue with in delivery, the options used to disapper. Many many bugs and many times it got stuck on amazon delivery things. Finally after selecting something that didn’t happen, only then was Aashish able to talk to Amazon.
Tier 1 Customer Care talks:
Explained everything to the customer care.
Forwarding call to Investigation team.
Tier 2 Investigation Care talks:
Explained everything again.
This investigation customer care team asked to open the outer box on call.
Once that was done the inner box came up with clear signs of tampering. Aashish tried rejecting many times due to the inner box’s packaging which was tempered with.
The inner box as expected had nothing in it:
Customer care said that they are registering this case and this will take 5 days time. (In retrospect, this is the moment where the credit card chargeback fraud should have been done). Customer care said that you will get justice.
Followed up with customer care two days later and had to expalin the case from beginning and only then the guy acknowledged and said it is underway.
Tier 1 Nonsense email:
The mail contents
The account had just two orders on it in and this was the first high number of refunds orders. This was a standard Tier 1 response. This was a business account.
Even if you link this to the normal account that never have had such missing box items delivery.
Replied to the mail but again no response from Amazon.
Tier 2 Mail after actual investigation stated that the packet left properly from warehouse: ATS: Amazon Transportation Services
The mail content
Ashish asked for a complete investigation report but which was never provided.
Same issue contined for many many months until now.
Twitter was also used but no real response from them.
National Consumer Helpline was contacted and same thing, no response from them.
Same response from amazon.
In desperation approached someone who claimed such things can be claimed with 99.9% chance.
“To amazon India and seller, if you don’t provide refund within 30 days, we will take legal action.” signed and sent via registered post to amazon and appario. This was merely a warning.
Same response about investagation recieved.
The sajjan-scammer asked for more 3799 for actually taking legal action. Same 99.9% guarantee.
He said e-daakhil is better but from other sources it was reveled that it wasn’t that great and things can take very long.
So Aashish didn’t go through the same.
Proper case filed through offline Consumer Court which is still ongoing which includes extra amounts like mental harrassment but you still have to pay to lawyers and waste of time with no promise of actual refund.
