Specs to customize in general

GPU: 5070 usually better than 5060 but is more expensive in this laptop

5070 isn't that much more priced than 5060 in this laptop. Try to get 5070

RAM: Don't pay more to Lenovo

  • Since laptop has two slots and if the laptop you're getting has only one slot empty, you can easily add another for much cheaper than what Lenovo gives you and it's very very easy to do so(Surf the internet before doing it for the first time).
  • Since AMD eats up RAM for it's iGPU and Windows 11 is getting more and more bloated, 24GB RAM should be the bare minimum.
  • More about RAMs here.

SSD: Don't pay more to Lenovo.

  • Second SSD is a full size slot so an SSD from Amazon will be much cheaper.
  • First SSD: You can't throw away the SSD for the warranty of the laptop which can't be for four years. Even if you buy a new SSD you will have to keep this included SSD for some time. Keeping that in mind:
See the difference in SSD on going from 512GB to 1TB is it more than just buying a new SSD? If yes, get that SSD.
The only exception would be you plan on adding a lot of storage by using the 1TB from Lenovo and getting your SSD in second slot.

OS/Office 2024 NOT yearly Subscription: Buy from Microsoft if the cost is close to the ones given by Microsoft

In UK, you have to pay £90 for Windows and £120 for Office Home 2024 when you can easily get the same from Microsoft directly and that license will not be tied to the mothearboard of the laptop you're using but to your account.
These license from Laptop Companies are OEM licenses and can't be transferred so it's tied to the current machine.
It's better to get your own license and activate it and when and if needed transfer it to other PCs.
Also, fuck subscriptions and don't get the Microsoft Subscription at all.

Wifi: 7, No Softwares/antivirus, no accessories, Battery: Highest, Camera: Highest, Color, Keyboard: Personal Preference

Pretty Clear from the title. Get the Wifi 7 as it's only a little more than the Wifi 6.
Don't get any extra software bundles like Adobe or something or any antivirus.
Get the maximum possible battery although I only see 80Whr as standard.
Both cameras are terrible but it's okay to spend a bit more for the less shit one.
Accessories from a laptop brand are usually shit and so stick to reputable brands when it comes to accessories like Mouse, Mouse pads, etc...
More information on accessories here.
Also, the backlit RGB keyboard is completely upto you. I will however say you should try to get better hardware specs in other parts before thinking about this.

Summary and purchase decision videos

Despite the lack of data I have been recommding this lapotp as my number one choice for value for money laptop if you are not affected by OLED's PWM flickering.

Update: The 9955HX is a very very very strong CPU as I detailed here. Even if it's thermally limited, it still performs great so this laptp looks like a no brainer unless you're affected by OLED.

Update: There really isn't data on this specific laptop as it was just announced. From other laptps having this CPU it looks pretty good and the tempeartures are a lot better than the 275HX while pulling less wattage but that result is based on other laptops. So this review is going to be halted for a few weeks so that there are enough laptops in the market before I get back to it.
My instinct based on the 8945HX variant of the same chasis is that this will be another great performing CPU but will require some tuning so that the CPU doesn't overheat however that tuning will not impact the performance as much.

Laptop has just been announced(2nd Sep 2025) and hence launch will take some time, however the fact that the laptop only comes with 5070 maximum with 88GB VRAM and we know this is going to be an expensive laptop means it's only to be considered in huge discounts and certainly not as a new laptop. This laptop finally has forced me into to look into Intel CPUs despite my premonition.

Cautions

Extra Notes/Stuff to confirm later:

  • Hardware manul is unavailable so I am assuming it has PTM applied, however, I would feel happy to find a proper proof for it first.
This is a new laptop so this will take some time.

The Dawn 16S also splits “Turbo Mode” into:
Extreme Mode
Competitive Mode(similar to JiaoLong 16 Pro's "High-Power Turbo" and "Silent Turbo")
There's also a Game Mode in between.

Extreme Mode:
CPU stress ~110W, 95°C
CPU+GPU stress ~65W+140W, CPU 86°C, GPU 83°C
Noise ~52.5 dB, 1-2 dB quieter than JiaoLong 16 Pro
Downside: Keyboard surface gets just as hot, middle area up to 56°C, hotter than JiaoLong

Competitive Mode:
CPU stress starts at ~110W, later drops to ~100W, 95°C
CPU+GPU stress ~45W+140W, temps around 83-84°C
Noise ~48 dB
Surface temps remain the same

Game Mode:
CPU stress ~75W, 76°C
CPU+GPU ~45W+120W, CPU 88°C, GPU 80°C
GPU-only stress ~130W, 83°C

110W CPU stress test and temps 85°C
        CPU+GPU→ CPU 64W @ 74°C
