Reviews

Overall Summary: Did this product do what it was supposed to?

Even with horrible service and all, yes, this product did what it was supposed to do: Unburden Mother. Even though the men  in the family said they would do the dishes, knowing how long it's going to take us or maybe just because we are pre-occupied with something else or lazy, we never actually did it. Now, whenever we see a small pile of dirty dishes, it immediately goes into the dishwasher and three hours later, we have clean dishes. Also bonus: the dishes are so much more cleaner than we could ever wash with our hands.

On top of that cooking anything simple or especially things that were complex is no longer a pain. Earlier, cooking anything meant cleaning a lot of dishes and hence at least I didn't bother cooking like ever. Now I cook egg-maggie and fill the dishwasher with tons of dishes. So we started cooking more.

Is a dishwasher even for Indian Households?

Yes, if nothing else the fact that the dishes are cleaned with hot water is enough to keep them a lot more cleaner than we can with our hands. So just in terms of hygiene dishwasher wins. Of course, if maid is cheaper for you and considering she will do everything else like cooking to, it might be better to get a maid but for some very justifiable reasons if you can't or won't have a maid in your house, yes, this is the way to go to lower your effort of cleaning the dishes.

Installation Experience

This might be different in a metro city but for us in a small city in Purnea, Bihar, the installation people(who later came for service too) were incredibly uneducated about dishwashers. Even in our city, when it comes to LG washing machines and fridges, the staff are still educated about appliances. This caused a lot of issues later.

Service Experience

Absolutely pathetic. The dishwasher gave E4 Overflow error in a few months of arrival. And it took the company a whole month, maybe more of getting it fixed. We had to constantly call the HQ team, the local person we got this dishwasher from, countless emails, then talk to these service guys, the area manager, the whole state manager and even though it was under warranty, we still had to pay service charge Rs.500-600 but thank god it was only once.

It took these people multiple visits in which they would try to fix the problem temporarily and then the same error would come back as soon as they left the place. After a lot of trouble finally they opened up the dishwasher again and talked to someone knowledgeable about it who instructed them on the call on what exactly to do and finally after that it was fixed.

It's been a few months after that and now the dishwasher is leaking from the sides little by little and filling up the kitchen again and again. I don't have the patience or time to call these guys again and go through all the debacle again honestly. Will ask Dad if he has time but honestly I just want to get rid of this and buy something else even if we have to put it outside the kitchen if it doesn't fit inside.

Update: Ever since the E4 error came for the first time back in October(six months of total usage then), even until now(i.e. February) after three months + of multiple visits of the service center guy it wasn't fixed at all. The same error comes after every few days of usage and then the machine keeps waiting for service guys. I have pleaded with Faber multiple times now to just refund me the money so we can buy a machine from a reputable brand but they keep assigning service engineers. At least after Dad shouted at the shopkeeper they arranged to send another service guy who still hasn't yet visited and keeps changing time of visit, this has to be the worst brand I got a product from and that includes HP. No matter how terrible a brand has been in the past, at least the machines have worked somehow, but this, this is just pathetic. I strongly recommend against this brand completely.

How easy is it to use?

It's pretty easy. My Dad can do it and he is almost half paralyzed so yeah, pretty good.

As long as utensils are not piled on top of each other and just thrown in, all of them are mostly cleaned. It can't clean off very tough stains and very rarely maybe one or two dishes aren't as clean as everything else. So it's pretty convenient. Even if the dishwasher needs rinse-aid or salt, you can just ignore it for a few washes before you actually put them in.

Power Usage - To check if someone wishes to know

Not enough to see a power drop anywhere else in the house so I am going to assume it's very low. I have a device to measure the exact usage but I won't bother unless someone really wants to know, in which case comment on any of the videos above. It is a 16A plug so if you are thinking of plugging it in a smaller socket usually for inverter, do get a 6A-to-16A converter. However it does online that power rating is 1500W so I am not sure anymore.

I should point this out that the dishwasher's warning was that it should be earthed and even though our electrician didn't do the proper earthing he did something with the third point that I wasn't there to check but yes it was done.

FAQs

Q. Why not the significantly cheaper Voltas Beko for just ~Rs.15k ?
A. That dishwasher has a major flaw where if the power cuts it forgets everything and then you have to go back and start the dishwasher again. Unless you're willing to run this dishwasher on battery power or your doesn't cut often, you might consider it, however, do your own research. I didn't look much into that dishwasher because no matter which dishwasher I used all had mixed reviews and a lot of negative reviews.

Q. Why Faber?
A. It had service in our city, a showroom and there aren't many small table-top dishwasher available at all. Had there been an LG one, we would had gone with that instead of this. However, after the experience we had above, it would have been better to rebuild our kitchen and fit a branded dishwasher than this. On second thought though, even the best brands have negative reviews and a lot of them so I don't know what to think anymore.

Q. Why you didn't buy a bigger dishwasher since it's already under your counter?
A. There is no space. Every brand made standard dishwasher and we didn't have the extra 3-4 inches to fit a larger dishwasher. It was a significant cost to remove the old tiles, cut the floor just for the dishwasher and even then it would have been a hassle working. We went with a cheaper dishwasher since we were unsure if we even needed a dishwasher.

Q. Isn't maid cheaper?
A. Not really no. They are very very expensive even in small cities like ours, but we have certain constraints that I can't really tell you due to which we can't employ like 90% of the maid that passes by.

Q. How often you run the dishwasher?
A. 3+ times a day usually. Mother likes her kitchen clean and we all do too. Also considering it's a small dishwasher and we have a small kitchen, we need the dishes out quickly so at every possible moment we just fill it up with dishes. We get our lunch and dinner from a tiffin service so this is just stuff we want to cook ourselves.

Q. How often does consumables need to be filled and how much they cost?
A. Three things which come to about Rs.400/month. We use the Fortune Brand and we get it from Amazon. Offline it's very expensive of whatever is available so we don't bother:

  1. Rs.50/month Dishwasher Salt is Rs.105/kg and they easily lasts 2+ months once filled. It almost takes a whole kg of packet inside and it just stays there.
  2. Rs.200/month Rinse Aid is Rs.380/L and needs to filled weekly. It's a small chamber so. The 500ml bottle lasts about a month which costs about Rs.200 . It is worth mentioning that we wash dishes even when rinse aid is empty and the dishes come out just fine.
  3. Rs.150/month Dishwasher Detergent is Rs. 250/kg and even though it says to use about 20g or almost fill the space with this detergent, what we have found is that just a small spoon worth does the job just fine. So for us, it lasts upto two months easily but for someone who is new and unsure they might use a lot more before they realize that they are using a lot more than actually required. So to take that into account I am going to increase the cost by a little bit.

Q. What mode do you use mainly? Video here.
A. Eco the maximum 3 hour mode mainly because it's the default one and we can just press one power on and one start button. That's it. Rarely when there are tough stains we go with the 2:40 cycle. The 0:30 cycle doesn't clean dishes properly, except that all other do it pretty good. With the 3 hour cycle, the dishes aren't steaming hot when we open the dishwasher.

Q. Does it shock you?
A. No, no matter how much I tried to it doesn't but mind you, we called the plumber beforehand as the dishwasher required earthing and even though he didn't do true earthing where a big plates needs to go into the ground, he made sure it was earthed. I wasn't there to check what or how he did it but it hasn't shocked anyone at all and I have touched it from all sides while it was running.

Q. <You need to ask more in comments of any videos above. I will add more as soon as I can think about it>.
A. Comment please on any videos above in the video section.

Q. Do you love me?
A. Of course, why wouldn't I? You have a cute ass.
