Frustration over reserved caste going forward in life NOT THE BACKWARDS ONES

The first time I took AIEEE (The engineering entrance exams for NIT) back in 2012 I got around 59,000 rank. Too low to get into any NIT.

But I did manage to get top ranks in some state examinations and hence I went with GGSIPU’s MAIT(the second best back in 2012, the first one was girls only college and even though I was fine with it, I wasn’t allowed with the counselor looking at me and repeating, “It’s only for girls.”

) where once I realized that the stuff I was studying in the first year was very similar to the same stuff for the entrance exams.

=======================================================================

I want to stop here for a moment. Something has hit me profoundly here. I remember my first college and how happy I was, sometimes even getting frustrated but I did my best to learn every new thing especially in Physics and I kept my grades up. There was also a short girl I kept(short in height not in age) seeing again and again and she also (in my head) was maybe interested in me. By the end of the four years, I probably would have talked to her at least once. (Yes, I was/am shy).

I remember learning about Einstein's relativity theorem and calculating the length of things and how I kept my score at around 80% all through college. I really would have done some pretty things with my life if I stayed there, but the problem was, it was very costly to study there and even though I went there on merit, all banks refused to give any educational loan for it and the only reason I started to study again for AIEEE was I knew the cost of education would be a fraction of what it was in MAIT.

This is 2012 and where there was no proper income at home,

We would like to stop the current blog to bring you some weird news. I am unsure of this but due to a certain politician(Laloo) who was heavily caste-biased, my father and many Uncles who had cleared a lot of PSC examinations  just couldn’t get one at the very last moment. It all went to the caste which the politician was originally from.
I can’t confirm it since it was before my birth but seeing the same surname in high positions again and again, I can only assume that it’s true.

The reason I bring this up is because I understand the reservation system and its importance. I am not ignorant. I do get why these were put up in the first place. The only thing I ask is to have the non-creamy layer thing that is with OBC(Other Backward Caste) to be implemented with SC/STs too, you will understand as I write more.

Note: Non-creamy layer certificate is a certificate to justify that you are economically weak as well as belonging to OBC category which means if you are well off financially you can’t claim reservation.

A quick google search proved that the government no longer cares about the same.

==============================================================================

I decided to start studying a lot while in the college and while out of it to make sure I got into one, and after a whole year of serious study and not spending time on any extra things, I finally did get 19091 rank and though I could have got CSE/IT in NIT Goa(THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE) I stuck with a branch that no one thought I would ever pick, Civil.

So you see, a whole year from 60k rank to 20k rank and I finally did get into a college I really wanted to get into. I was very happy, very very happy.

And I was even happier when I showed the fee structure of the college in person to Dad while he was there, from upwards of 2 Lakhs a year to under 40k a year, it was pretty amazing.

Now, a bunch of stuff happened and I happened to meet with a few people who I honestly shouldn’t have hung out with.

=========================================================================

I didn’t realize it back then but everyone who didn’t sweat blood and tears into this Institute of National Importance, I shouldn’t have even bothered with. Those included SC,ST and fake SC,ST and fake handicapped and paid seats and especially kids from other countries. It shouldn’t be allowed, if you want more money, open a management quota thing for a certain percentage of class just like in MAIT.

Well, there was a small problem here. Back in MAIT, you could easily figure out who was in the management quota and who wasn’t. Who got there because they studied hard and who was there because they were rich. They couldn’t stop showing off.

While in the second case, it was so much more difficult to figure out who is there because he belonged there than in who didn’t.

==========================================================================
There was one particular person in this who was very very rich. Even though she didn’t show it we later learnt that she was, owing to his father having a government job. I didn’t think of it much back then.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To anyone outside India, having a tenure job with the government in India no matter what the post is considered a blessing since it’s not the paid income that counts, it’s what you can make by just being an employee in these offices. Corruption and the likes. We pretend to the outside world and in the media that it isn’t a thing. Oh it absolutely is.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But I later found she was from one of the reserved categories, SC and her rank was 95,000.

Where I spent countless hours of study, people who were sitting beside me barely had to do anything to get into it. For reference about 1,00,000 people gave the exam and getting under 10% was very easy considering a large part of the population didn’t care about the exam.

===============================================================================

Note: That’s when I myself made a promise to myself to not give any further exams with any sort of category or special category even if I did belong to one and I have kept that promise to this day.

===============================================================================

Well, this much most people already knew about but something else happened today and the reason I am writing this in the first place.

I was uploading my resume to LinkedIn(the new facebook) when I realized that all the people in my college with a certain last name were all IAS/IPS/IES and the like. These people run our country. These people who don’t know what honest hard work looks like run our country.

And this also meant that her father and countless others’ fathers also belonged to the same.

Well I am not going to go into the upper class thing right now because that needs to be its own blog.
