Update: I found out the cost of seats in NIT, COMEDK, etc… added at the end.
I knew that there was some level of cheating but reading everyone else’s answer here is just sad.
“For every student who got into such institution, there was one who didn't, despite working really hard.” Let me make you more sad with some facts.
There was a guy in my hostel years and through his academic performance and drinking and all, it was clear that he can't clear 12th board by himself. I point blankly asked himself on his face, “How much did you pay to get into MNNIT?” He would always divert the question or remain silent.
A year later I met his friends and learnt that they all had cheated in some way or the other. From faking Caste Certificates, to fake ^medical documents, to #high level cheating in the exams.
I didn't focus much in my college days and if I could pass the college without any extra years with 58.5%, I couldn't understand why the hell these sons of bi***es, ~5k rankers in AIEEE, (I was 19,091) needed to install small earpieces in their ears to clear a f***ing semester exams of even first semester subjects. Not to mention, that they already had attempted that paper 4–5 times earlier and basic subjects like Maths and Physics, core to engineering.
Many of them flunked out and got a back-date degree from colleges in their hometown. This is what really is sad. These were the seats that could had been a blessings for students who really worked hard for it (under parents’ pressure or by themselves, doesn’t matter), but they deserved it nonetheless.
Let me make you even more sad.
Many of those who flunked the college have made several groups and work under another group of people that sell seats for money. From exams like AIPMT, JEE to even exams like Group-D exams.
They are stupid, they can’t help cheat even if they wanted to, so they appoint some, “Brilliant-and-dumb,” kids who help clear these exams by sitting somewhere and giving instructions for biometric exams and simply sits himself in non-biometric. They are dumb because they don’t know the risk they are taking and many a times, aren’t paid and they can’t do anything about it because they will go down.
One of these was almost caught by police in Delhi at one time due to his ability to not shut up, but he escaped. But I have been assured that no matter what they do, they will always be able to break free because they have financial backers with them.
I had been holding this inside me from a long time and I needed to take it out of me.
This is a disgrace to education. This is something that kept bothering me all the time I was in college. These are the people who just stay in hostel, watch porn all day, smoke weed, give their rooms to outsiders for money and use that money to buy weeds again.
^Medical Documents: There were many who made fake hearing certificate, like no hearing and when asked something they would exaggerate it, after they got into the institution their hearing suddenly started working pretty fine.
#Proxy Exams and Leaked Question Papers: Here are the rates I was confirmed for everything but it’s like 10 years old so it must have increased.
GGSIPU Question Paper: Rs.50,000 from someone who got it himself from other source 2 days before the exam.
Good Seat in NIT - SC Category: Rs.3 Lakhs. [Confirmed from one who got it]
Good Rank and seat in NIT - General: Haven’t talked to N**** after he went the wrong way in life. I doubt he will let me know.
COMEDK - I was offered 2 lakhs and all trips paid to pass the COMEDK exam during my first year in MAIT IPU.
NEET Exam Paper - Original Source for Rs.10 Lakhs who then went ahead to distribute the same to others for lower and tried to scam their way out of it.
P.S: Don’t fool yourself. Everything has a price in India but remember hard work and smart thinking goes a long way. It took me about 2 weeks to prepare for GGSIPU ~1600 rank and a week for OJEE ~100 rank in the year prepared for AIEEE and got ~60k.
The next year I prepared for AIEEE along with college because the Labs helped me understand what I was learning and was able to get 19091 rank.
