Use the charger or anything to prop up the laptop when you don't have a stand.

Yup, that's it. Even if the charger gets unbearably hot to touch(which it should) using it to prop up the laptop
Stand shouldn't block the laptop vents→ Chose stand with holes in the saame places where your laptop fan vents/intaks are

The whole point of a cooling pad is that it should circulate air and if it blocks the vents on the laptop, the whole point of a cooling pad goes way.
This was the reason I made by own:
If you have laptop warranty, avoid stands that stick to your laptop

Laptop brands look for every reason to not give your the promised warranty and even if you have ADP they can write it as "Intentional Damage" and not accidental and completely refuse warranty on it.
Just for this reason getting any sort of small little laptop stand like these is shooting yourself in the foot:
DON'T BUY IT IF YOU HAVE WARRANTY

All these portable foldable stand all have the one big flaw. They wobble a lot when you want to use it with a laptop especially if you want to use laptop's keyboard with it..
